Aubenord exists to help dog owners navigate IVDD with clearer, calmer and more practical information. Our content combines carefully sourced veterinary evidence with lived experience caring for Loui. We are not a veterinary practice, and our guides do not replace examination, diagnosis or treatment by a qualified veterinary professional.

Who creates Aubenord content?

Guides are prepared and edited by the Aubenord Editorial Team. Where lived experience from Loui’s IVDD journey is included, it is clearly presented as owner experience rather than clinical expertise. We do not state that a page has been medically reviewed unless a named, appropriately qualified reviewer has actually reviewed that specific page.

How we research medical and veterinary topics

We use a source hierarchy designed to favour the strongest available evidence:

1. Peer-reviewed veterinary research, including PubMed-indexed papers and consensus statements.
2. Veterinary universities, referral hospitals and specialist colleges.
3. Recognised veterinary organisations and professional guidance.
4. Official provider information for practical matters such as current referral services or published pricing.
5. Owner experience only where it adds practical context, and clearly labelled as experience rather than medical evidence.

We avoid using a single study population as though it predicts the outcome for an individual dog. Breed predisposition, recovery percentages, treatment outcomes and cost examples are presented with limitations where those limitations matter.

How we use AI and digital tools

Aubenord may use AI-assisted and other digital research or writing tools to help organise information, compare sources, identify gaps, improve clarity or edit drafts. These tools are not treated as medical authorities. Veterinary claims are checked against the cited source material, and final editorial responsibility remains with Aubenord.

How we separate evidence from experience

Loui’s story is central to why Aubenord exists and gives us genuine first-hand experience of severe IVDD, surgery, paralysis, bladder care, wheelchairs, sitters and long-term adaptation. That experience can help us understand the questions owners actually ask. It does not turn personal experience into veterinary advice, and it is not used to override published evidence or an individual veterinary team’s recommendation.

Corrections and updates

IVDD research, treatment approaches, referral services, prices and product availability can change. We review key pages when new evidence or important practical information becomes available. We do not change dates merely to make an article appear fresh.

If you spot a factual error, broken source, outdated service detail or wording that could be misleading, email aubenordhelp@gmail.com. Material corrections are made as soon as they can be verified. Where a change materially affects the meaning of a medical guide, the page is re-reviewed rather than simply having its date changed.

Commercial and affiliate independence

Aubenord may link to third-party products or merchants and may in future earn affiliate commission from eligible referrals. Commercial relationships do not change our clinical-information standards. Emergency, diagnosis and treatment guidance is not written to push a product sale, and a commercial relationship does not qualify a product, clinic or source as medically authoritative.

Medical review

Some Aubenord cornerstone guides may in future be reviewed by a qualified veterinary professional. When that happens, the reviewer’s name, qualifications, organisation or independent professional profile, and review date will be shown on that specific page. Until then, we use accurate wording such as evidence-informed or carefully researched rather than claiming medical review.

Why we publish

Our purpose is to make difficult IVDD information easier for owners to understand and act on safely. Search visibility matters because it helps owners find the resource, but it is not the reason a medical statement is included. The primary test is whether the information is useful, appropriately sourced, clearly limited and safe for an owner to read.
