Choose a safe size
Pick a ball your dog cannot swallow or lodge in the mouth. A comfortably larger size is safer than one that only just fits.
A textured rubber chew-and-treat ball we use regularly with Loui at home for food enrichment and, when he is able to play normally, supervised fetch too.

USED BY LOUI · EVERYDAY ENRICHMENT
This textured rubber ball is one we use regularly with Loui at home. We fill the openings with kibble or small treats for sniffing, licking and problem-solving, and it also doubles as a supervised fetch ball for us when more active play is appropriate.

WHAT TO CHECK FIRST
Pick a ball your dog cannot swallow or lodge in the mouth. A comfortably larger size is safer than one that only just fits.
Dogs that quickly destroy and swallow rubber pieces need a tougher or different type of enrichment toy.
Use kibble or treats that fit the openings without becoming permanently wedged inside.
Remove the toy if it becomes split, torn or starts shedding pieces, and keep every session supervised.
FIT, USE & SAFETY
Start with food that is easy enough to remove so the activity stays rewarding. Count food used in the ball within your dog’s normal daily intake, supervise play and replace the toy at the first sign of meaningful damage.

THE QUICK DECISION
It has stayed in Loui’s toy rotation because it is simple, versatile and genuinely useful: treats one day, supervised fetch the next.
The textured surface may contact the teeth during chewing, but we treat this as an enrichment toy rather than a replacement for tooth brushing or veterinary dental care.
Food-motivated dogs that enjoy supervised rubber-toy chewing and do not rapidly destroy this type of material.
