WHY THIS ONE

Why we recommend it

The GingerLead solves a specific problem simply: broad padded rear support plus walking control in one easy-to-position sling. Its integrated lead, extendable handle and stay-on straps can make repeated toileting, standing and short assisted movement easier to manage when rear-only support is appropriate.

AT A GLANCE

What stands out

Broad padded rear support: more considered than a narrow improvised sling
Integrated lead and lifting handle: rear assistance and walking control in one piece
Adjustable handle length: helps the handler stay more upright
Stay-on straps: help keep the sling positioned around the dog
Machine washable: useful around toileting, wet ground and accidents
Purpose-specific simplicity: a good option when the rear needs help but whole-body lifting is unnecessary
FIT & SUPPORT

Measure for the support your dog needs

Use Zoomadog’s current pad-width and handle-length measuring instructions rather than body weight alone. Measure the support area forward from the hind legs; for barrel-chested dogs the retailer advises measuring the belly to the base of the rib cage. Adjust the handle so you can support the dog while standing comfortably upright.

PRACTICAL CHECKS

What to check before buying

Before you order
  • Confirm rear-only support is actually appropriate for your dog
  • Remember the sling supports under the abdomen. Avoid it where tummy pressure is unsuitable or after relevant abdominal surgery
  • Check skin, comfort and sling position for bunching or rubbing
  • For IVDD, use assisted walking only within the movement plan given by your veterinary or rehabilitation team
