Dog Slings & Lifting Support

Harnesses, slings and lifting aids can make transfers, toilet breaks and short supported movement more controlled when a dog has hind-leg weakness or reduced balance. The right option depends on whether support is needed at the rear, through the whole body or around a specific area.

Fit matters. Support should be broad, secure and comfortable without rubbing, twisting or concentrating pressure on the abdomen, spine or groin. For braces or specialist supports, check suitability with your vet or rehabilitation professional before ordering.

Lifting support

Where does your dog need support?

A sling or lifting harness can make transfers and toilet breaks more controlled, but different designs support different parts of the body. Fit, pressure distribution and the dog’s current neurological function matter more than the product name.

Rear support

Help at the hindquarters

Rear slings can help selected dogs with hind-end weakness during short, purposeful movements and toileting.

Whole-body support

Support — do not suspend

A full-body harness should distribute load without leaving the dog hanging or forcing an unnatural posture.

Safety

New weakness needs reassessment

Worsening front-leg weakness, pain or coordination changes are reasons to contact the veterinary team, not simply add more equipment.
